Indesit History

The Indesit Electric Heating Company was formed way back in 1911 and now the Indesit brand is a household name when it comes to electric appliances and most commonly "white goods".

Indesit is owned by Hotpoint and General Electric. In 1989 Indesit continued as a sister company of G.E.C and was later migrated into a new division of GEC, which was called General Domestic Appliances.

In late December 2001, Merloni Elettrodomestici purchased 50% of Marconi plc (formerly GEC).

More recently in 2005, Merloni re-named itself Indesit and the Indesit brand continues to be a major part of that company.
